The
fare to the center of Madrid should not cost more than 21 euros,
although there are supplements added to the metered fare for baggage,
going outside the city limits - which includes going to and from the
airport - and between 11 PM and 6 AM.

Recommendations:
Check that the taxi driver has started the meter when the journey begins
(Minimum taxi fare €1,35). The taxi driver is obliged to
give you an official receipt if you want / need one.
Should a taxi driver attempt
to over charge you, ask for a receipt, take his licence number, on
display in the cab, and call 915-210-871 or transport information
on 010 to report him. Or you can relay the complaint to the
Spanish Tourist Office in London at info.londres@tourspain.es,
who will pass it on to the correct authorities. Also, in case of
complaints you can fill out a claim form, available in the vehicle and
